This has been my home away from home for the past year. The rooms are lovely but what REALLY makes it are the people. And yes, the Gold Floor, although more expensive, makes the entire stay. The concierge staff remember your name and treat you like you would like to be treated. I was just at the Mandarin Oriental because the Gold Floor was closed for August, and although my room was “a bit” nicer, frankly, the Fairmont was much nicer in terms of staff and location.
